Welcome to St Michael’s Primary School Kaleen, I wish to acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of this land and recognise any other people or families with connection to the lands of the ACT and region. I wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of our city and region. The name of our suburb ‘Kaleen’ is derived from the word for 'water' in the language of the Wiradjuri Aboriginal tribe of the central west region of New South Wales.

St Michael’s is a Catholic School and part of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, North Belconnen. We are fortunate to have St Michael’s Church close by. Our students and families are invited to participate in Sacramental Programs, that nurture and nourish Catholic faith and teaching.

Our Vision at St Michael’s is to Live and learn in harmony with others inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus. Jesus’ Cross forms a central part of our logo, with the rainbow representing hope and joy.

Our living values are expressed in our 5 Bs; be safe, be respectful, be responsible, be a learner and be a leader. Our learning values are expressed in our Keys for Learning; collaborate, persevere, create, question, and explore.

We are proud to be part of the Catalyst Initiative, which has been a system wide approach to teaching and learning based on proven theories about the Science of Learning. We have developed High Impact Teaching Practices (HITP) that are research-based and effective in providing optimum learning for our students.

St Michael’s is small school with spacious grounds and modern learning spaces offering a contemporary Catholic Education. We have a vibrant and inclusive parent community who value Catholic Education and support our staff team. We are committed to building strong family partnerships so that every child feels supported with a sense of belonging. We want all our students to develop a positive growth mindset to see challenges as an opportunity to learn and grow. We prioritse personalised care, and positive relationships so that students may thrive in all aspects of their growth and learning.

I look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Kind regards,

Judy Egan
