Religious Education News - Emily O'Rourke
Congratulations to Our Confirmation Candidates
At the beginning of the year our candidates, along with their parents’ support, expressed their desire to join their Catholic community more fully by receiving the final Sacrament of Initiation, to be confirmed. After pledging their commitment, the candidates and their families have been preparing themselves by learning more about God, the Holy Spirit and also about their faith community.
Yesterday evening, we were blessed to witness a truly sacred and joyful occasion as our students were confirmed. In a reverent and heartfelt ceremony, each candidate renewed their commitment to Jesus and received the strengthening presence of the Holy Spirit. Empowered by their spiritual gifts, they are now ready to help carry out Christ’s mission to love and serve God and others. Congratulations to all our Confirmation Candidates for the way they reverently and faithfully conducted themselves last night.
A sincere thank you goes to the families, staff, our Sacramental Coordinator Leanne Smith, Fr Mick, and Archbishop Christopher Prowse for their guidance, support, and spiritual leadership throughout this important journey.
Now that these students have been blessed, strengthened, and confirmed by the Holy Spirit we pray:
Loving and faithful God,
We ask you to bless our recently confirmed students.
May they remain constantly curious in their pursuit of knowledge and truth.
May they use their gifts and talents to spread your joy and love throughout the earth.
And may they inspire and motivate others to know, love, and follow Jesus.
Amen.
St Michael’s Feast Day
The Feast Day of St Michael is Friday the 29th of September. St Michael is an Archangel (chief angel) whose name means ‘one who is like God’. In the Bible, St Michael appears as a powerful protector. In the Old Testament, Michael came to help Daniel after he had a vision. In the New Testament, Michael led the faithful angels to fight evil. As the protector of the Church, St Michael also watches over our school community, helping guide us to make right and loving choices.
To honour this special day, the whole school will be attending a Parish mass on Thursday the 25th of September. All families are warmly invited to attend the mass at 9:30am in the church. Following the mass, students will be participating in activities to enrich their understanding of St Michael our Archangel who protects us. We will finish the end of our term by celebrating with a day disco. Students are encouraged to come dressed in their brightest, rainbow coloured disco clothes as we celebrate together!
