    Celebrating Sporting Success

Congratulations to all our students who recently represented St Michael’s at the Belconnen Athletics Carnival. Your hard work, determination, and sportsmanship were outstanding, and we are proud of the effort you gave in every event. We now look forward to cheering on our Oztag teams as they play in their gala days—good luck to all players! We know you will give it your best, play with pride, and represent our school beautifully. Thanks to all the coaches and teachers who have supported these teams.

    Author Visit – William Russell

This week we were thrilled to welcome back former St Michael’s student, William Russell, now the talented author of Cowboy Cam. William captivated our students with stories from his journey as a writer, sharing how his love of reading and imagination began right here at St Michael’s. He spoke about the inspiration behind Cowboy Cam and encouraged students to chase their creative dreams, no matter how big or small. It was inspiring to see a past student return as a published author, showing our children that with passion and persistence, wonderful things can be achieved.

Treasure Hunt – Book Week 2025 Performance

As part of our Book an Adventure celebrations, students were treated to the exciting Treasure Hunt performance from Perform Education. This lively and interactive show took us on a journey filled with clues, challenges, and colourful characters, all woven together to celebrate the joy of reading. Laughter, music, and plenty of audience participation made it a hit with students from start to finish. The students were taken on an adventure that wove together the themes of three of this year’s short-listed books and asked us to ponder what we consider to be ‘treasure.’ The performance not only entertained but also reminded us that books are like treasure maps—leading us to new worlds, exciting discoveries, and unforgettable adventures!

Book Week 2025 – Book an Adventure

This year’s Book Week Parade was an explosion of colour, creativity, and character as we celebrated the 2025 theme, Book an Adventure. Our students truly embraced the magic of stories, arriving in a dazzling array of costumes inspired by their favourite book characters. From classic literary heroes to whimsical new favourites, every outfit told a story of imagination and fun.

The Parade was the highlight of the week, with our school leaders Lydia W and Ryder T in character as the Frog and the Princess. They wrote a wonderful script and did an excellent job as comperes, guiding the event with energy, humour, and enthusiasm. Their confident presentation kept the parade flowing and added to the joyful atmosphere. As each class took to the stage, the smiles, pride, and sheer creativity on display made it clear—our students looked simply magnificent.

A very special thanks to Mrs Hardwicke for organising such a great week full of amazing events and to all of our fantastic teachers that dressed up!

    Camp

We are looking forward to our upcoming camp at Warrambui, where students will have the chance to learn, explore, and grow together outside the classroom. Over the two days, our 5/6 students and teachers will enjoy a variety of team-building activities, outdoor adventures, cultural activities and hands-on learning experiences designed to build confidence, cooperation, and resilience. With beautiful bush surroundings, comfortable facilities, and plenty of opportunities for fun, our Warrambui camp promises to be an exciting and memorable experience for all. All students going to camp need to arrive on Thursday at the school hall at 7:45 for an 8am departure.

    Kind regards,
