Principal's Page - Judy Egan

Dear Parents and Carers,

Grateful thanks to so many of our staff for their involvement in recent events at St Michael’s. The Sacrament of Eucharist, Author Visits, Robocup workshops and training, coffee chats, carnivals and the list goes on. We have an amazing and generous staff who go above and beyond to ensure your children have wonderful and engaging experiences.

Thank you to our Community Council Exec who met on Monday night- please see the write-up from Evan Thomas our Chair.

I encourage all families to take up the opportunity to meet and chat following the delivery of reports via Compass tomorrow.  Bookings have been open since last week and as this report contains grades only, a conversation about your child’s strengths and challenges is very worthwhile. Working as a team to ensure everyone is on the same page, supports your child’s educational journey. Bookings close Friday, 27 June at 4pm.

This Friday, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The Catholic Church has many titles for Mary, Mother of Jesus. Some of these include- Our Lady, Mary Help of Christians, Mary Queen of Heaven, Mary the Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Lourdes, the Virgin Mary and many more.  In the Catholic faith, whatever her title, Mary is a loving Mother, hearing the prayers of her children and taking them to her Son - Jesus. Mary is also known as Queen of Peace, more than ever we need the love and guidance of Mary to bring peace to this troubled world. Peace starts with each one of us, may Mary bless us and plant seeds of patience, kindness and forgiveness in our hearts.

Community Council Corner - Evan Thomas

Our School Community Council Executive met on Monday 23 June 2025, and it was heartening to reflect on just how much is happening around St Michael’s. We’re so grateful to everyone who made our recent events so successful – from the lovely turnout at the Mother’s Day celebration and the energetic cross country carnival, to the fun AFL clinics and inspiring author visit with Tim Harris. A big thank you also to those who attended the school tours and reading coffee chat – it’s this kind of community spirit that makes St Michael’s so special. We’re also thrilled to share that enrolments for Kindergarten 2026 are already looking strong.

Looking ahead, there’s plenty to get excited about. Book Week is just around the corner, with the parade planned for 18 August – always a colourful and fun day for students. The Father’s Day Stall and Liturgy will follow in early September, including an open classroom morning where families can visit and see student learning in action. The Book Fair is also coming up and will help raise funds for our library – thank you in advance to our amazing volunteers who help make these events happen.

We’re continuing to work on strengthening services like before and after school care and are in discussions with Catholic Education to ensure everything is on track. We’re also looking into trialling a canteen day with pre-packaged food next term and will be asking for volunteers to help bring this to life. Our next SCC meeting will be on Monday 4 August if you have ideas or suggestions please email office.stmichaelsps@cg.catholic.edu.au.

Together, we’re building a supportive, connected school community – and it’s working beautifully.
