Dear Parents and Carers,

Recently our 3-6 students participated in a Think u Know Presentation. This is an Education Program led by the Australian Federal Police to inform students about online safety. The Program uses real-life case studies from the Australian Federal Police. The AFP work with the community to combat Child Exploitation. It is so important that we talk with our children about exploitation and online predators and check the sites and games they are using. Primary school aged children are not able to monitor their own use of devices. It is so sad that some of our children have been exposed to pornography, violence and other inappropriate content. YouTube and other easily accessible sites are not safe for scrolling by students unless supervised by adults.

Cyber-bullying is a criminal offence

Be careful who you add or text online don’t share personal information

Keep your accounts private

If you don’t have something nice to say don’t say it, snapchat, Instagram, tik tok can track your location

Approaching Winter

It is great that CECG provides the option of flu vaccinations for our staff. The ACT Government is running pop-up influenza vaccination clinics around Canberra in May and June for children aged six months to under five years. Please see the attached flyer in the newsletter.

Playgroup

St Michael’s Parish and School Playgroup has begun. You are most welcome to bring your little ones along for some fun and friendship on  Wednesday mornings at 9am.
