Dear Parents and Carers,

Assessment and Reporting

This week, CECG have provided the following advice for parents/guardians and schools about reporting for this year.

General comments will not be required on Semester 1, 2025 reports, but schools will prioritise Parent/Teacher Conferences for every family. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, their strengths, challenges and future areas of focus. A Semester Report will be sent home as in previous Semesters, providing A-E grading, work habits and attendance information. CE has advised schools that Semester 2, 2025 reports will have a general comment for all children as in previous years. This general comment will provide a summative comment for the year, areas of achievement and areas to focus on for the following year. A-E grading, work habits and attendance information will remain as normal. We would encourage all parents/guardians to engage regularly with their child/ren’s learning, connecting with their class teacher/s regularly to discuss learning progress.

Working Bee

A huge thank you to the Obando-Mendez, Walsh, Cameron, Metz, and Williams families who did such a fantastic job at our working bee last Friday. Grateful thanks also to Janitor Ray and the teachers who shared their time and energy- what a wonderful community effort!

We crossed off all the jobs! Filled a trailor with clippings!

And helped to make our environment even more beautiful!

Community Council Corner

Our Community Council met on Monday evening. The Principal’s report focused on positive outcomes for the school including:

  • receiving a grant of $10 000 for new blinds and furniture.
  • the addition of extra staffing including a fulltime Classroom Support role for the term to assist students and a Student Welfare Officer for 2 days a week for 2025.
  • Toni Hatten-Roberts from COG Learn has been coaching our teachers to improve their High Impact Teaching and enhance learning outcomes for students.
  • Statements of Practice have been developed by St Michael’s to underpin CECG policies. These can be found on the St Michael’s website.
  • Thanks to our parents and grandparents who have offered to run our Mother’s Day stalls on Thursday and Friday and are helping out at the Athletics carnival next week.
  • Thank you to Evan Thomas our chair and Lauren Geatches for attending our Enrolment Information Evening and their support of St Michael’s.

Mother’s Day

I thank everyone for their wonderful support following my announcement earlier in the week. We will re-attach the letter to the community in this newsletter. I will not be starting my leave until mid-August, so it is business as usual at St Michael’s. I hope all the special women in our lives have a wonderful day on Sunday.

Many blessings
