Ash Wednesday Mass
Today we gathered as a Parish Community to celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass, the beginning of our Lenten Journey in preparation for Easter. The students were all blessed with an ashen cross and the words ‘Turn away from sin and follow Jesus’. Fr Mick spoke to the students about Lent being a time to reflect on how they can be more like Jesus in their words and actions. They were encouraged to be ambassadors for Jesus by showing compassion, forgiveness and kindness to others. Fr Mick asked the students to remember that Lent is a time for almsgiving, fasting and prayer. We pray that this Lent is a joyful season in anticipation of the resurrection of the Lord.

This Lent, we are called to put our compassion into action and Unite Against Poverty through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. Today, each family will receive a Project Compassion donation box. Your generous support this Lenten Season will enable Caritas Australia to provide life-changing support to communities facing poverty, food insecurity, lack of education, and water shortages, while building resilience against future challenges. Together, through faith and action, we can bring hope and opportunity to those most in need. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Reconciliation
During Lent, some students are preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. During preparation students explore right and wrong, reflect on their choices and learn the importance of letting go of hurt. In this Sacrament we reconcile with God and experience His grace and mercy. This process brings about a change of heart and renews the gift of the Holy Spirit within us. Please keep our Reconciliation candidates in your thoughts and prayers.
