Jubilee Year

A Jubilee Year is proclaimed every 25 years. It is a special year set aside to encourage pilgrimage, repentance and spiritual renewal.  The theme for this year, chosen by Pope Francis, is ‘Pilgrims of Hope.’ “Hope does not disappoint,” the Holy Father said, urging the faithful to rediscover the value of pilgrimage and uncover the signs of hope by getting involved in Works of Mercy. We pray for our school community, that we will be Pilgrims of Hope, walking together as people of God.

Sacramental News

Families with children planning to take part in our Parish Sacramental Program for Reconciliation, are invited to attend an information evening this Thursday 13th February, 6:00pm at St Michael’s Church. Traditionally that would be children in year 4 or above. I look forward to meeting with you all along with our Parish Priest, Father Mick, St Monica’s Religious Education Coordinator Melanie Stratford and our new Secretary and Sacramental Coordinator, Leanne Smith.

All are welcome to attend our Whole School Opening Mass which will celebrate the beginning of the new school year. During the Mass there will be a blessing of our students and staff for 2025. Year 6 leaders will also be presented with their leadership roles and badges. Our newly formed Youth Group will be assisting with the Mass readings and leading our new school song for the year, ‘Jesus is our Friend’. The Mass will commence at 9:30am, Thursday 20th February at St Michael’s Church.

Whole School Focus

Each year at St Michael’s we have a Whole School Focus to enrich our Religious Education Program. This year’s theme  is ‘Walking Together in Friendship’. This theme links with our vision to live and learn in harmony with each other. Using Jesus’ teachings from parables in Luke’s Gospel, students will learn how to be a caring friend. Over the year we will explore how we can walk together with a listening heart, inclusivity, kindness and forgiveness. Friendship values will be celebrated in classrooms and Harmony Awards.
