Religious Education News -Emily O'Rourke

St Michael’s Feast Day

Last term we celebrated the Feast Day of St Michael. Our school is blessed to be named after such a special saint who is seen as a protector of the Church. We celebrated with a liturgy and then students participated in activities to deepen their understanding of St Michael our patron saint. Students gathered to share a picnic lunch and ice blocks. A huge thank you again to all our families for the generous donations which will be used to raffle at our St Michael’s Christmas later this term.

In Term 4, St Michael’s will continue with our Whole School Focus exploring the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and how they can help and guide us. We will be focusing on the fruits of patience, peace, joy and love. This fortnight we will be looking at the fruit of Patience. Patience is the ability to wait, or to continue doing something despite difficulties. St Francis de Sales understood that big changes take time and that patience is a virtue. Knowing this he took any step he could to deliver the messages of the Catholic Church to others. May we, like St Francis de Sales, seek the love and will of God through constant prayer and acts of kindness and humility towards our neighbours. Let us find peace and patience in situations out of our control. We pray that the Holy Spirit gives our students the fruit of Patience to guide them in life too.

Archdiocese Assembly

The Archdiocese assembly is a significant event for the Catholic Church in our Archdiocese. On Saturday 19th October leaders and members of our parishes, schools, movements, ministries, communities, agencies and organisations will gather in hubs in Canberra, Goulburn, Narooma, Young and Cooma. This will be a time to gather together, pray and discern where the Holy Spirit is leading the Church in our Archdiocese. Please keep all participants in your thoughts and prayers this weekend.
