Dear Parents and Carers,

At St Michael’s we are first and foremost a Catholic school with a commitment to a Religious Identity expressed in our curriculum, prayer life and sacramental programs. Our vision To live and learn in harmony, inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus is at the heart of who we are and what we do. 

Complementing our vision is our commitment to providing an excellent education as part of the Catalyst initiative.  

There are 3 Pillars for Teaching and Learning in the Catalyst approach.

1. Curriculum-What we teach

Our teachers have access to curated, high-quality resources and relevant curriculum, guidelines and support

2. Pedagogy- How to teach

Teachers use evidence-based, high impact teaching practice (HITP) with professional learning and coaching

3. Assessment- How we know

CECG implement system wide assessment protocols so that student data informs decisions

Throughout the year teachers follow many protocols around gathering data and providing assessment tasks to plot and track student growth. In term 1, you met with your child’s teacher to set learning goals. In a few weeks you will receive your child’s Semester Report via Compass. The report will contain grades for various subject areas. I encourage you to meet again with your child’s teacher to discuss the grades achieved and to revise and refine your child’s learning goals.

Just a reminder-it's not all about grades, is your child confident, happy and able to interact socially with success? Does your child have resilience, can they solve problems, create, imagine and explore? There are so many inter-linking elements that work together to ensure a child is in a good space to learn. We are privileged to care for your precious children, and we value partnering with you in a spirit of mutual trust, collaboration and support so that your child can grow and thrive.
