Whole School Focus: Create
In weeks 7 and 8 our teachers are focussing on the key for learning; create. Creativity is an essential part of being an engaged, motivated learner. Students will be reflecting on the importance of giving new things a go, and using their imagination to think ‘outside the box’. Teachers will be encouraging students to try new things and have a positive mindset. Our Harmony Awards for the next two weeks will celebrate students who are innovative and creative in their approach to learning.
Remembrance Day
On Friday St Michael’s commemorated Remembrance Day with a liturgy. We acknowledged and gave thanks to those who made a huge sacrifice for us in time of war. Together we listened to the Gospel reading from John 13:34-35, ‘My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you. The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for them.’ Father Mick spoke to the students about the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the sacrifice of many service men and women, for the sake of our freedom and peace. A special thank you to LEUT Scott Smith, RAN, Fr Mick and the defense students who helped with readings on the day.
