Whole School Focus: Live in Harmony 

The term 3 whole school Religious Education focus is ‘Harmony in my Community’, under the curriculum theme of ‘sustainability’. To help break open the focus for students, we are exploring the values of ‘forgiveness’ and ‘wisdom’  and the keys for learning ‘question’ and ‘persevere’. Each week the theme, values and keys for learning will be the focus for our Harmony Awards. The Harmony award focus for weeks one and two is ‘sustainability’. Teachers will acknowledge students who are making choices that help sustain our environment and look after the world God created.

Our scripture focus for the term is from Ephesians 4:32 ‘Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.’ This scripture portrays the St Michael’s vision of being a place of compassion, kindness and forgiveness, inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus.

The Catholic Calendar 

As a Church family, we have a Catholic Liturgical Calendar of events and seasons. We are currently in Ordinary in which we hear Gospel readings around the life and teachings of Christ which assist our understanding of how to be followers of Jesus.This Sunday’s reading from Matthew’s gospel is the parable of the sower; where Jesus warns us what will happen at the end of time to those who do not listen to Him. Jesus uses the symbols of wheat and weeds to describe good and evil. Like the wheat and the weeds, God allows good and bad people to live side by side. God gives us freedom to make choices. He wants us to be good like the wheat and enter into God’s Kingdom.
