Pentecost
This coming Sunday the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Pentecost. At Pentecost we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost marks the end of the Easter season and is often called the birthday of the church. It was from this event that Jesus commissioned His disciples to continue his work; to go and spread the good news and establish the Church. At Pentecost, we are also given the gift of Jesus’ Spirit. As Christians we are also called to carry on Jesus’ mission, being disciples and spreading the good news of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Whole School Focus – Live in Harmony
Our Harmony Awards for the next two weeks will celebrate students who display our school value of gratitude. Gratitude is about focussing on our blessings and being thankful for what we have. Students will be encouraged to pause and notice the things we often take for granted such as having a home, food, clean water, family, friends and even material things. Having a grateful heart helps us feel more positive emotions, can change our perspective, improves our mental health and builds strong relationships. One way we can express our gratitude is through prayer. When we offer a prayer of thanks to God, our focus shifts from our problems to our blessings.
"Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." Psalm 106:1
