Dear Parents and Carers,
We had a wonderful Harmony Day yesterday.

This was our prayer at Morning Assembly:
Dear God,
Help us always to treat each other with respect and dignity.
To use our words to build caring relationships.
To always build people up, not make them feel small or ashamed.
Help us to welcome everyone in our St Michael’s family,
So that everyone belongs as we all do our best to live in harmony.
We ask this through your Son Jesus,
Amen
Happy Harmony Day from all the staff at St Michael’s!
Protective Behaviours
The beginning of the year is a good time to remind our families about Protective Behaviours.
What are protective behaviours?
These are behaviours that keep everyone safe.
There are 2 main themes in Protective Behaviours we reinforce these at school.
- Everyone has a right to feel safe all the time
- Nothing is so awful that you can’t tell someone about it
In Protective Behaviours we ask students to trace around their hand and for each finger ensure they have initials of a person who they can go to for support.
Some ideas for home-
Draw and trace the child’s hand with support network
- Talk about what strategies your child could use if they lose a house key or are home alone and need help, e.g. do you have a trusted neighbour? Does your child know how to contact family?
- Remind your child about stranger danger- it’s not OK to get into a car with a stranger
- Teach your child to say no, to go and tell a trusted adult if they feel unsafe
Harmony Awards and Rainbow Awards
As part of our Positive Behaviour Management, we acknowledge students who are living by the values of St Michael’s and doing their best. Each week we give Harmony Awards and at the end of each term, 2 students from each class are awarded Rainbow Awards. These students receive a book prize acknowledging this achievement.
Our next Rainbow Award ceremony will be Friday 31st March in the School Hall at 9am. We will let families know if a student is receiving a Rainbow Award.
Friday Photo Day
This Friday is School Photo Day. Students need to wear full summer school uniform.
