Dear Parents and Carers,
It was wonderful to see so many families at our Book Week Character Dress up last week. The weather was lovely and the outfits were truly spectacular-thank you to everyone who made such an effort.
What’s coming up at St Michael’s
This Friday 2 September we are acknowledging our wonderful dads as we offer the 3D treatment- Donut, Drive thru and Dad joke! Dads and Mums are welcome to attend our outdoor morning assembly if the weather is friendly. Hopefully next term we will be able to return to more indoor spaces for assemblies.
Next Friday 9 September we have a Pupil-free Day which has been allocated to teachers across the sectors of ACT schools to allow staff to receive their entitled allocations for planning and preparation. The unavailability of relief teachers and teaching staff continues to impact schools at every level. We are hopeful that the warmer weather will help with winter illnesses being experienced by everyone in the community. I sincerely thank our parent community for their support as we work through difficult times in schools.
Week 10, Wednesday 21 September- Sharing our learning afternoon- 3:15 - 5:30pm
Students will have the opportunity to share their learning with parents and carers. A relaxed opportunity for positive feedback so that your child can hear and feel your support in the learning process. We have been advised that as this is an after-hours event, parents are permitted on site. Families are very welcome to pop in during this time to praise, encourage and give growth feedback.
40th Anniversary Celebrations- Saturday 19 November- 11am - 2pm
Thank you to Mr Carton (Grandfather of Jimmy- Year 5/6) for this little piece of history. Can you guess where it is?
View from the Bridge on Maribyrnong St, looking towards the school-1980! What an amazing transformation in 40 years!
November is not far off so we are starting to get cracking on organising our 40th Anniversary Celebrations community event. We are offering the opportunity for families to buy a paver to create a special 40th Anniversary path. Please see the information attached.
So far, we have a BBQ, jumping castles, cake stall, memories display, video loop, St Michael’s Student Art competition for all students with prizes awarded. Do you know anyone who would like to set up a stall? We are looking to organise some ways to encourage families and the community to be part of the day. If you would like to help out in whatever way you can, big or small please get in touch. We would love to get together a group of parents happy to assist in festivities.
If you have any memorabilia ideas, or stall ideas, please get in touch with Maria at the front office- Maria.Papasidero@cg.catholic.edu.au
School Fees
School Fees have been sent home to families. Thank you to all our families who support the school by paying fees. Many families choose to put in place payment plans that spread fees over the year. Lynda is happy to support you and please make an appointment to see me if you have any questions/concerns.
HATs On Again
This Thursday, 1 September is a return to School Hats On at St Michael’s. We have been reminding students daily to bring hats or purchase hats if required. The school UV policy protects students from UV exposure by promoting the policy- “No hat - sit in the shade”. Please support and safely protect your child by ensuring they have a school hat to wear daily.
Thank you to Mr Kennedy for the great work he is doing to top up our playground equipment spaces with certified soft fall. If you can help with a solution to block our basketballs falling over the fence, we’d love to hear from you.
Thank you for your continued support, enjoy the sunshine between the showers.
Many blessings,
Judy Egan
