Religious Education Curriculum

3/4 have been learning about who Jesus is. Students created questions that they had about Jesus and then sorted them into ones that were easy to answer and others that were more challenging. They then recorded all the different names they knew for Jesus for example teacher, healer, Saviour and King.

We are now exploring the idea and definition of Messiah and locating references to Messiah in the Bible to develop our understanding of this word.

WSPT NAIDOC Week

Thank you to Kindergarten for your beautiful WSPT for NAIDOC Week last Friday.

WSPT Remembrance Day

RE_T4_W5f.jpg

What a beautiful moment of silence today as we paused to remember the sacrifices paid by all in war. Thank you to 3/4 for your leadership of our WSPT for Remembrance Day.

Confirmation

What a beautiful celebration of Confirmation in St Michael’s Church last night. Thank you to the candidates and their families for their prayerful participation in this special sacrament. We keep Helena and Billy in our prayers as they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation over the coming evenings at St Monica’s Church.

Dear God, we pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. May these students always feel the presence of the Holy Spirit directing them and guiding them. May they use the gifts that the Spirit offers to help others who struggle with decisions in their own lives. May they do all this in love and service to you, O Lord. Amen

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal

This year, Christmas will be like no other. After the year that no one saw coming, many families are without jobs and are under increased financial stress, some for the first time in their lives. With more families facing uncertainty, no one knows what to expect for Christmas Day.

Vinnies is committed to making Christmas a time to renew hope. But we need YOUR help.

Your school community can play an important part in renewing hope for the thousands of people who face an uncertain Christmas. Together, we can continue to bring Christmas gifts, Christmas hampers and smiles of love and laughter to the people who need it most this season.

From everyone at Vinnies, the staff of St Michael’s and the people we assist, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please give all food items and gifts to your child’s class teacher to collect by December 9th 2020. THANK YOU!

CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
Hampers are received by individuals and families in your local community who have been recently visited by conference volunteers from the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn. Our Christmas Hamper shopping list is a suggestion only. A few things to keep in mind:

  • To uphold the dignity of those receiving the goods, please ensure that all food items are not due to expire for 6 months. All items must be nonperishable.
  • If you would like to donate perishable food items such as chocolates or ham it is best to do so by donating a gift voucher so that families can select what they would like during the holidays.

CHRISTAMS GIFTS

Christmas gifts are given to a range of individuals and families and can include children we support in our Youth programs, families being supported by Special Works or by local conferences. By giving a gift to the Society, we are able to help others regain hope and bring joy to them at Christmas. Please note:

  • We can only gift new items still in packaging.
  • We also request that gifts are not wrapped as we try our best to match presents with the individual. If you would like, you can donate wrapping paper and/or gift bags along with your gift so they can be wrapped at a later date.

Amen.
