National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

On or around 4 August, all Australians have the opportunity to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.
This week the students will be making Rainbow Snakes, Rainsticks, Stick Art Sculpture, Body Fibre ornaments and Fibre Animals inspired by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers. Tjanpi (means grass in Pitjantjatjara language).Tjanpi artists use native grasses to make spectacular contemporary fibre art, weave beautiful baskets and sculptures.
