Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Today the children of St Michael’s and St Monica’s Primary Schools both participated in a shared liturgy for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day (which is this coming weekend). In the past we have been able to come together as the two schools in one parish but, due to COVID19 restrictions, today looked a little different. We shared a simultaneous prayer liturgy across all the classrooms of both schools, with staff and students from both schools having lead roles in the liturgy. Students also collaborated to create artworks that will be displayed in both schools and churches, celebrating our coming together as important elements of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. Students have also created prayer cards for distribution to parishioners. Father Loi visited both schools to help share in the celebrations.
Sleep Out @Home
Last Thursday many families took part in our very first SleepOut@Home. Thank you to all who have shared their experiences on our Facebook page. We have received a very generous $707 from our families which we will make sure goes to help out the wonderful work done by our own St Vincent de Paul Night Patrol.
Last night I slept outside for 15 minutes. It was rough. I was tired. Mahli and Elli were talking, it was so annoying. I imagine it would be hard to sleep with people around you. After I went to my own bed, it is so comfy!

People experiencing homelessness need help. That’s why St Michael’s Primary School raised money for St Vincent de Paul. We brought warm things in. If you think about the homeless people I think that they would be cold and hungry so we should help them.

It was really hard sleeping under my bed on the floor. It was cold, hard and nasty!

If I was homeless I would feel cold and uncomfortable. I would be hungry and always tired. I would have to sleep on the floor or in a car if you’re lucky. People might give me money but not too much to buy a house. I would have to go to the toilet at Coles, Woolies or other shops. You can become homeless by not going to school so you don’t get a job. But there’s a lot of people who can help, like St Vincent de Paul. They will give you food and clothes. Schools and churches and community groups do charity for the homeless.

Mini Vinnies’ Winter Woollies PJ Day
Thank you for the wonderful donations of warm clothing and blankets for St Vincent de Paul from our PJ Day last Friday. We are sure many people will now be warmer for your generosity.
