Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day
Tomorrow is the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Being the Patron of our Parish, this is an important day.
Every picture tells a story, Every Icon proclaims a message. This Icon proclaims the message that Mary, able to comfort Christ in His sufferings, is able to comfort us in ours. Mary is the Mother whose help is perpetually present to us always.
On Friday we will celebrate with our other Parish school 'St Monica's Primary in Evatt' with a fun day. K-2 students will remain at school with K-2 St Monica's students joining us. Our Years 3-6 students will do the opposite and head over to St Monica's to join in the celebrations over there. Both myself and Carmel Maguire will join Fr Loi at the Liturgy here first for the K-2 students and then head over to St Monica's to join in their liturgy also. Looking forward to a fun, engaging and reflective day of celebration.
Trivia Night
Don't forget our Trivia Night is this Friday night. Looking forward to the fun!

Late Arrivals
Just a reminder regarding signing children in if ariving late. This is a legal requirement and we get auditted regarding attendance. A child can't sign themselves in. If for whatever reason you can't get out of the car (perhaps you are sick, other child is sick etc), that is fine, we just require an email or phone call prior to the drop off so we can officially sign them in and ensure we are following correct procedure.
Arts Showcase Assembly
Next Monday at 12.40pm students that have been learning piano and guitar this semester will perform for the school at a special assembly. Dancecore students will also perform their routine. We are looking forward to witnessing the creative skills of these students.
Semester One Reports
Reports will come home on Monday. I have spent this week reading over every child's report. I am pleased with the consistency and detail that teachers have dedicated towards providing you with the clearest feedback possible about how your child is going with their learning and development at school.
The current reporting format is one that I don't feel captures all that is needed, nor is it as reflective as possible to show your child's progression of learning. I have been involved in recent discussion with ACT Primary Catholic Principals and Catholic Education Office regarding this and hope of changes to be made in the future.
Parent-Teacher Interviews will be available in Week 2 next term to discuss where to next for your child for Semester 2. If you wanted to touch base with your child/ren's classroom teacher informaly before the term is out, you can always do that by contacting via phone, email or in person before or after school.
2020 Enrolments
The Catholic Education Office requires details of projected numbers for 2020 for staffing purposes. Hence, we need to know of any families who are seeking enrolment for their children at another school in 2020, for whatever reason (this does not include Year 6 students). Please email the school office as soon as possible if your child/ren will not be returning to St Michael's in 2020.
Rainbow Award - Term 2
Congratulations to Term 2 Rainbow Award recipients. Well-deserved. Displaying some of our school values like kindness, compassion, forgiveness, empathy and challenging themselves and having a go with their learning. Well done! All students this year who receive a Rainbow Award, will have a special celebration lunch and afternoon with Mr Webb and Mr Ellis at the end of the year.
Enjoy the week ahead.

Pat Ellis

Reconciliation Action Plan - Jess Lewis
The Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) committee will be meeting Tuesday afternoon next week (2nd July) from 3:30-4:00 in the library. If you are interested in attending please pop in. The first meeting will be used to decide on a statement of intent and what we would like to focus our attention on when implementing reconciliation initiatives within the school, as well as breaking open what a RAP is. If you are able to come please send me an email jessica.lewis@cg.catholic.edu.au
All lost property has been placed on a table near the sliding doors and is filling up very quickly with unnamed clothing and lunchboxes/drink bottles.
Please ensure that your children's belongings are clearly labelled. If you are missing an item, please remember to check the table, any unclaimed items will be disposed of at the end of Term and unclaimed clothing will be placed in the 2nd hand clothing pool.
New Books
There are over 200 new books that have been accessioned and are waiting to be covered before making their way onto our library shelves. If there are any parents who are able to assist with covering books your help would be appreciated. Please see either Erin Hardwicke or Lisa Monro if you can help out. We will also have a session next Wednesday afternoon from 2:30-3:00 in the library to cover books. Would love to see you there if you have a few minutes to spare.
Overdue Books
Overdue library notices came home today with all students who currently have overdue books. If these books could please be returned before the end of term it would be appreciated. If you are unable to find missing books please feel free to send an email to let me know and I can update the library system.
2019 CBCA Shortlisted Books
We now have a wide selection of the shortlisted books for this years CBCA awards. We will be reading these books over the coming weeks during library lessons. The winners will be announced during Book Week in Week 5 next term. We have lots of exciting things planned for Book Week this year. More information will come home early next term.
The shortlisted books for 2019 can be found at https://cbca.org.au/shortlist-2019
Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival
Save the date: Friday 25th October. Please consider if your child would like to take part in the Boorowa carnival this year. Information and permission notes will come home early in Term 3 as we need to register our teams. The carnival is a wonderful day and a terrific way to support the town of Boorowa and the surrounding region. Last year saw 434 teams compete and thousands of children enjoying a day of sport focused on participation rather than competition. We would love to have even more students involved than we did last year. Students from Years 2-6 can participate in either touch football or netball.
Congratulations to the following children who have achieved a Harmony Award in Week 9 and will receive their award this Friday at morning gathering (weather permitting).
