Dear Families,
Save the date for St Michael’s Christmas Event
The students are happily learning Christmas carols, and we are busy preparing raffle baskets and a variety of stalls. This St Michael’s community event will held on Friday 6th December from 5-8pm. It’s time to put on your Christmas attire and get into the spirit! Kindergarten students are asked to come dressed as angels, stars, shepherds and kings and students from Years 1-6 can come dressed in Christmas themed clothes. We are looking forward to catching up with you all to celebrate what has been a wonderful year!
Please click on the booking link to purchase your free tickets. This will help for catering purposes. There is no need to present tickets on entry.
Uniform Free Day - This Friday 22 November
Please remember this Friday is a Uniform Free Day and students are asked to bring a donation of a block of chocolate (Kinder-2) or a bag of lollies (Year 3-6). These items will go towards our Chocolate Toss and Tombola stall at our St Michael’s Christmas Event.
Sabbath
Next week at St Michael’s we will have a focus on the Sabbath. Staff, students and families are reminded to take a break, be still and listen to God. At such a busy time of year I would encourage families to take a moment out of your schedules to reflect and enjoy some quiet time together, enjoy playing a game, go for a walk or spend time away from devices and talking. Staff are also limiting meetings and enjoying moments of peace and tranquillity and deepening connections with God.
Attendance
Please ensure that your child/ren are on time for school and that any absences are kept to a minimum. If your child is having difficulty transitioning to school or you are experiencing school refusal, please reach out to us and we can work together to develop a plan to support your child.
Reports & Interviews
Semester 2 Reports will be issued via Compass in Week 8, Monday 2 December. Your child’s teacher may request an interview to discuss progress after the reports are released. Parents can book an optional appointment for an interview with teachers from Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th of December through the Compass portal. Once the interview booking system is live in Compass, we will advise via a Compass post.
Staffing for 2025
We are currently in the process of finalising staffing arrangements and class teachers and roles will be announced in the coming weeks.
Deputy Director’s Visit
Dr Tony Bracken has rescheduled his upcoming visit. We will let you know when the visit occurs and any important feedback to the community.
School Fees
School Fees are now due. If you have a substantial balance owing please contact Lynda Logan (Finance Manager) who can assist you with payment arrangements. If you are not able to clear the balance owing by the end of the school year please contact Judy Egan. Financial assistance is available, where exceptional circumstances exist. Any requests for support are always treated in confidence.
End of Year Events
There are several events coming up at school which we will keep advertising via newsletter, Compass and Facebook. Updates and details will be provided on our website, Facebook and for specific events, teachers have sent home information on Compass.
Living in Harmony
I am really impressed by the continual efforts that our staff invest in our students and families and the support given to help our students to build caring relationships. Our students are reminded daily during assemblies and class time to ‘Live in Harmony’ with each other and to act with love, kindness and compassion. You might like to take time next week during Sabbath to share the following prayer with your family.
Catholic Schools Prayer
Jesus, Good Shepherd,
teach us through your Spirit
to walk your way of light,
to live your way of truth
and in all things to act with
love and compassion.
Help us to come to the Father
by knowing you, loving you, and
serving you in each other.
May our schools be places of wonder,
learning and peace where the lessons of today
prepare us for the challenges of tomorrow.
May your Mother, Mary,
guide our footsteps as she guided yours.
This prayer we make in faith.
Amen.
Many blessings,
Bridgette McCann

Fruits of the Holy Spirit – Joy
Over the next couple of weeks students will explore the fruit of Joy. Joy is known to most as a feeling of great happiness. Pope Francis shared in 2020, “that Joy is a grace and a gift of the Holy Spirit, not just positive emotions or feeling cheerful.”
Joy is the happiness we have because God is always with us. The Holy Spirit calls us and helps us to become more like Jesus. Our joy increases as we become closer to Jesus. We pray that the Holy Spirit gives our students the fruit of joy to guide them so that they choose joy and always share this gift with others.
St Michael’s Vinnies Christmas Appeal
Last week St Michael’s, as part of the Parish, began to show its support for the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. The appeal helps those less fortunate in our community over the Christmas and New Year period. Your donation will help provide support for these families facing food insecurity and struggling to put food on the table this time of year. Teachers have allocated each child an item for their class basket of food and festive items. Please make sure donations are sent in by Wednesday 4th December. The St Michael’s community is always very generous at this time of the year as they see greater needs beyond themselves. In advance, I would like to thank everyone on behalf of St Vincent de Paul and St Michael’s School for helping us collect these donations to support the needy in our community at this time. God Bless.
