Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you so much to all our families who joined in celebrating Easter by creating an Easter Hat, or another type of artwork representing Easter. Students were very excited to parade on stage yesterday and thanks to our staff who also let their creative skills run wild! It was great to see so many families and friends at school enjoying time together. We have posted photos of students on our Facebook page.
Photographs and Video recordings
It is CECG Policy that St Michael’s maintain photo approvals for each student and must ensure each person photographed has given approval before images or recordings are published. This is a reminder to all our families that videoing other students at various school events without parent permission is not sanctioned. It is important for everyone to respect the privacy of our students and families regarding this issue.

Religious Education News - Erika Tokich
Holy Thursday and Good Friday
Last week the 3-6 students led our Holy Week liturgies. Year 3/4 reenacted The Last Supper where Jesus shared his last meal with his disciples during the Passover Meal. He blessed, broke and shared bread and wine. Jesus asked his disciples to “Do this in memory of me.” Each time we share in the Eucharist we are reminded of this important event and that Jesus is always with us.
During the Good Friday liturgy, we heard the Gospel story of when Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray before his death. His Disciples fell asleep while Jesus prayed to his Father in heaven. Jesus was then betrayed by Judas who told the soldiers where to find him. He was tried and found guilty, leaving him condemned to die. Even though the events of Good Friday are full of sadness, God sacrificed his Son for our freedom, which is why it is ‘Good’ Friday.
Thank you to the students and teachers who prepared and led the liturgies so reverently and parents for joining us.
Easter
On Sunday we celebrated Jesus’ Resurrection. The Liturgical Season of Easter will continue for weeks to come. It includes the Ascension of Jesus and ends with Pentecost. The season lasts for 50 days and during that time we will hear stories of Jesus’ Resurrection appearances and testimony about life in the Spirit. While we focus on the glory of Jesus’ Resurrection during Easter, it is our Resurrection too. Every year we celebrate Christ blessing us with new life. When we choose this new life we are sharing in Christ’s victory over evil and death. Let us truly be an Easter people, blessing others and shining out with the Light of Christ.
Easter Season Prayer
Praise to you, Risen Christ!
You brought light to the whole world by your Resurrection.
May your Easter light bring peace to our home.
May your Easter light bring peace to the world.
Shine in us.
Light our hearts and minds to know you better,
to love you more and more,
and to serve you by shining your light in our family,
for our friends, and to the world around us.
Send your blessing on use and on those most in need of your Light.
Who live and reign with God the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen. Alleluia!

Thank you to the St Michael’s community for your generous donations to the Project Compassion Appeal. To date we have raised a phenomenal $955.50 in cash donations to help those in need for future generations. What an extraordinary effort! Please return any Project Compassion boxes to school ASAP.

My name is Jo, and I am happy to be back as the School Counsellor at St Michaels in 2024.
I have a psychology and counselling background and I have a great passion in working with young people. I feel it is a great privilege to be able to support them with their growth, emotions, relationships, and any other concerns they might be experiencing.
The school counselling program is a first port of call in supporting your child’s mental wellbeing within the school environment. I am able to provide short-term counselling intervention sessions over a few weeks and provide support and guidance in accessing external services if required. Feel free to touch base with any questions or concerns relating to the counselling service at your school, happy to chat through the program and the support I can offer in this role. I am at the school on a Monday each week.

How to register your child with School Sport ACT
School Sport ACT now collects all registration information online – this is to prevent the movement to and fro of a paper note and have all information readily available to officials prior to the trial. As this process incurs a fee for data storage, system maintenance and admin, a small fee payment via credit card will be required.
- Go to the School Sport ACT website – www.schoolsportact.asn.au
- Click Register (top right corner of homepage) for an Account – enter parent details and password
- A confirmation email will be sent to your chosen email that will contain a link that you must click on to verify the email account.
- Click Log In (top right hand corner of home page) enter password then click on top tab My Profile
- You will see a ‘dashboard’ of your information, click green box to Add Student – enter student and medical details and save.
- Go to the Sports Tab – choose your specific sport, click on Trial Information box then click on the Register to Trial link.
- Select your child’s name from the dropdown box and then enter the optional fields for Playing History, Preferred Position (if applicable) and Representative Experience. If you are already in the system, ensure your child’s school is up to date in your profile – have they moved onto High School?
