Dear Parents and Carers,
On Monday Father Mick and Father Kos visited St Michael’s and spoke with classes about Easter. It was very thoughtful of them to provide the children with some Easter reminders and we thank them for their kindness. The teachers and students have been working on prayer liturgies to celebrate the story of Easter and we are grateful for the care and preparation in providing these for other students, staff, and families.
On Tuesday 2 April many of our students will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Congratulations to these students and families as they participate in this beautiful Sacrament that brings peace and hope into our lives. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in their preparation particularly Father Mick, the Parish Team, Mrs Tokich our St Michael’s Religious Education Coordinator, and staff.
Rainbow Awards
At St Michael’s we acknowledge positive behaviours in many ways. One of these is to share Harmony Awards and Rainbow Awards. Teachers give Harmony Awards each week and select 2 students for Rainbow Awards at the end of each term. Parents are always welcome to join us for Assemblies each Friday as we congratulate students receiving awards.
Futsal
Good luck to our Futsal teams who are participating in a Gala day at Fadden today. Thank you to Mr Philip Villarroel for his coaching and to Mr Howland and Miss Sahariv for accompanying the children, we hope you have a great time and remember to be wonderful ambassadors for St Michael’s.
Easter News
Thank you to the Parent team who organised the Easter Buns and delivered them to school for families, the children were very excited to take these home. We are looking forward to an Easter Hat parade on Tuesday morning in our courtyard after the Easter long weekend Tuesday 2 April 9am. We hope this will provide some simple craft time at home and is not intended to cause any extra stress or costs. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
The Jesuit Community offer a free daily retreat that is sent to your inbox, sometimes this reflection is a great way to start your day.

Religious Education News - Erika Tokich
Reconciliation Retreat Day
Last Thursday the Year 4 students participated in a Reconciliation Retreat Day. The day began with a liturgy based around the Parable of the Prodigal Son and was followed by activities with a focus on forgiveness and reconciliation. Students participated with reverence and were open in sharing their thoughts and own experiences with each other. At the end of the day we reflected on what we had learnt. Responses included, ‘I learnt that God loves you no matter what’, ‘We need to forgive and let go of hurt’, and ‘Family is worth more than money’. What mature and wise thoughts! Congratulations to all students and we wish the candidates all the best as they continue to prepare for the Sacrament.
Palm Sunday Liturgy
Last Friday the K-2 students presented a dramatisation of the events of Palm Sunday, when Jesus’ entered Jerusalem as a King and Saviour. The crowds waved palm branches and cried “Hosanna”, which means ‘Lord save us’, which is what Jesus came to do. As we journey into Holy Week, perhaps we could reflect on how Jesus can save us in our own lives and in the world.
Today the 3-4 students will lead a Holy Thursday liturgy and tomorrow the 5-6 students will lead us in a Good Friday liturgy. Families are most welcome to join us in the hall for these commemorations.
Easter
When we return after the Easter break, we will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus with an Easter Hat Parade. Students are invited to get creative, design and make an Easter Hat that reflects the joy of the Resurrection and new life. Hats are to be made at home and worn on the day. Teachers will provide templates to students if they require some guidance. Families are most welcome to join us in the courtyard, 9am on the 2nd of April.
Project Compassion
This is the last week to bring in donations for the Project Compassion appeal. The St Michael’s school community has raised $589.60! Thank you to all who have used Lent as a time to help others and lead positive change. Please continue to bring in any donation boxes or donate online by visiting our school fundraising page:

Cross Country –Tuesday 9 April
We would love as many parent volunteers as possible to assist as course marshals on the day.
Erin Hardwicke
My name is Jo, and I am happy to be back as the School Counsellor at St Michaels in 2024.
I have a psychology and counselling background and I have a great passion in working with young people. I feel it is a great privilege to be able to support them with their growth, emotions, relationships, and any other concerns they might be experiencing.
The school counselling program is a first port of call in supporting your child’s mental wellbeing within the school environment. I am able to provide short-term counselling intervention sessions over a few weeks and provide support and guidance in accessing external services if required. Feel free to touch base with any questions or concerns relating to the counselling service at your school, happy to chat through the program and the support I can offer in this role. I am at the school on a Monday each week.
If you would like to make a referral for your child, please use the link below to access the form – once the referral has been put through, I will be in touch as soon as possible.
