Dear Parents and Carers,
The students have made a great start to Term 4 and it has been wonderful checking in with classes and hearing all the holiday news.
It is a huge day on Friday for many of our students and staff and I wish everyone well as St Michael’s head off on the wonderful trip to Boorowa. I have been to the carnival on multiple occasions, and it has been a great day for our Catholic Community and a wonderful way to support a small town. I know that our students will be great sports and I sincerely thank parents and teachers who have trained teams, are transporting students or helping on the day- your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Semester Reporting
CE has advised that the final reports for Semester 2 will include a general comment at the end of the report. The final section will include brief comments for English, Mathematics, Religious Education and other areas specific to class learning. Reports will be published to Compass on Monday 4 December. We will not be scheduling an online booking system for parent interviews in Week 9; however, you are most welcome to contact the class teacher via email if you would like to make an appointment to discuss your child’s report.

Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge
Congratulations to Olivia and Zara Cameron who represented St Michael’s at the Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge yesterday. Thank you to Mrs Hardwicke for her support.
Building Update
Thank you for your patience as our renovations continue at the front of the school. We will continue to utilise the back gate for YMCA before and after school care and morning and afternoon entry and exits. The car line pick up and drop off has not been impacted by the renovations. Just a reminder that for safety reasons, students should not arrive at school before 8:20am as there is no supervision.
If you need to collect your child for an appointment please call the office, you will need to enter via sliding doors and follow signs to front office to sign your child out. Please reach out if you have any concerns, we are happy to support.
Graduation
Year 6 Graduation preparation is well underway. Year 6 Parents are reminded to book tickets via the Compass portal. Information was sent via the Compass News feed on the 11 October.
Thank you again to all our families for your continued support and best wishes to our Boorowa teams.
Many Blessings and travel safely,
Judy Egan

Religious Education News - Erika Tokich
Catholic Student Youth Mission Australia
CSYMA offers a student faith formation model which is integrated into the heart of the Religious Education Curriculum. Its vision is to enable the work of evangelisation in Catholic schools and to draw students and staff into a life giving and changing relationship with Jesus. The model invites students to share their gifts and lead prayer experiences in the future.
This week staff from the Catholic Education Office and Year 10 Merici students led an inclusive retreat day, ‘Journey with Jesus’, which is phase one of the model. The retreat was a time to stop, listen, reflect and act on God’s message of love, salvation and forgiveness.
The day involved listening to the Merici students share their stories of faith, fun activities and small group work; all which helped open their hearts to listen to God, the voice they can always count on and listen to. At the end of the day, the students wrote a prayer, reflecting on what stood out to them from the day. They were also invited to consider being part of a junior ministry team next year to help lead future faith experiences.
Congratulations to the students who enthusiastically participated in the day. May this be part of an exciting faith journey. A special thank you to Luke Maher for his leadership, all staff for their support and the Merici students for mentoring our St Michael students.

On the 6th to the 8th of October, St Michael’s students took part in the National Robocup competition in Melbourne.
It was a fabulous experience for the students to be a part of coding and robotics at such a high level. The students learnt how to persevere through challenges and work as a team to complete a series of challenges.
Our team was involved in Rescue Line, which is set up as a scenario to save a victim from a chemical spill. There were ten rounds and each round consisted of a varying level of difficulty. At the beginning students needed to have their robot track a line to reach a spill zone and save a victim. By the end of the competition, their robot needed to avoid obstacles like water towers, go up ramps and over sticks to reach the victim.
It was a fabulous few days where the students made friends and were able to be part of an amazing atmosphere consisting of hundreds of competitors.

Awards Recognition – Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge Awards at the National Library of Australia with Olivia (KD) and Zara (3/4O). On behalf of our school, Olivia accepted our school’s award from Chief Minister Barr. In addition to the certificate, we received a $100 voucher from Paper Chain books to purchase new titles for our library.
Thank you to all our wonderful students who completed this year’s challenge. We look forward to doing it all again next year.
