Dear Parents and Carers,
A warm welcome back for all our students and families and as we commence the final term for 2023. Congratulations to Bridgette McCann on her permanent appointment to the Assistant Principal position and for her capable leadership in my absence.
In March this year St Michael’s underwent a Registration process, I recently received the Registration Review Summary which is attached. I believe the document truly celebrates our wonderful school and community and everyone who contributes to its success. I am proud to share it with you.
We are thrilled that our Robocup Team made it into the National Finals in Melbourne over the school holidays. Thank you to the students and families and to Miss Hallahan, (ICT Leader) and Miss O’Rourke who accompanied the team. The students were a credit to our community and learnt so much in the process.
Also, last term 3/4 students worked in teams to learn about the online game design process and design their own game as part of our Technology unit. We entered the team designs into the National Game Design challenge organised by Arludo Pty Ltd. One team from our school was shortlisted and made the Top 10 finals. On Tuesday, 10th October, they had the opportunity to attend a gala event and workshop at UNSW in Sydney. We congratulate the 3/4 girls on their huge achievement!
We have another busy and exciting term at St Michael’s and I encourage you to keep up to date with events via compass. A reminder that you notify us of any student absences via the notes section. Thank you for your patience while the CE team continue refurbishments to the front of the school, any changes to drop offs/pick ups will be sent out via compass. Its great to see the front of the school taking shape,
Thank you for your continued support,
Many blessings
Judy Egan

Whole School Focus: Live in Harmony
The term 4 whole school Religious Education focus is ‘Harmony in my World’,
under the curriculum theme of ‘story’. To help break open the focus for students,
we are exploring the values of ‘compassion’ and ‘hope’ and the keys for learning
‘create’ and ‘persevere’. Each week the theme, values and keys for learning will
be the focus for our Harmony Awards. The Harmony award focus for weeks one
and two is ‘story’. Teachers will acknowledge students who are sharing their
stories in creative, oral and written ways. This term will also be a time of
reflection, looking back at the story we have lived out and looking forward to
future possibilities.
Our scripture focus for the term is from Romans 15:13 ‘May the God of hope fill
you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit’. This scripture fits in with the current Year of The
Holy Spirit and the Advent season. Advent being a time of joyful anticipation for
the arrival of Jesus, the long awaited Messiah.
CSYMA Junior
What is CSYMA? CSYMA stands for Catholic Student Youth Mission Australia. It is a student formation model that is integrated into the heart of the religious curriculum. Its vision is to enable the work of evangelisation in Catholic schools and to draw students and staff into a life giving and changing relationship with Jesus. This model also promotes wellbeing and student leadership. I am excited to announce that St Michael’s School has recently signed up to be a part of the 4 phase model. On the 17th of October, the Year 5/6 students will all take part in a Retreat Experience - ‘Journey with Jesus’, which is phase one. They will be introduced to the model and the core concepts of Catholic Faith; love, salvation and forgiveness. Our students will be mentored by CEO staff and students from Merici College. In 2024 we will build on this experience in our prayer life and form a junior ministry team. We ask God’s blessing on the students as they begin this journey.

Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival – 20 October
The Boorowa Touch Football and Netball carnival has almost arrived! Many of the teams have been training in the leadup and we thank the parents for volunteering their time. We are yet to receive the draws for the day but will send them home as soon as they become available. A reminder to allow extra travel time as the traffic becomes very congested as you approach Boorowa.
Please be prepared for a variety of weather conditions on the day. Additional water, sunscreen and a camping chair are recommended. Food will be available for purchase.
Looking forward to a fun day!
Congratulations
Congratualtion to Mahli (3/4O) who competed at the Futsal Nationals during the school holidays. After a successful competition, which saw the ACT team win the tournament, Mahlie has been selected to the Australian team to compete in Fiji in 2024.
