Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Thursday Suraya Seyitmyradova (Year 6M) competed in the Rostrum Public Speaking Quarter Finals. Suraya spoke outstandingly and received a 3rd place result. In her speech she spoke about how since arriving at St Michael’s 3 years ago she has made great friendships and developed in her self-confidence.
Congratulations to Suraya for being such a wonderful ambassador for St Michael’s. We are very proud of you!
Positive Behaviour Management
We all want our children to do well, academically, socially, emotionally, and so forth. One of the best ways to do this is to catch our children doing great things- emphasize the positives and gently correct when necessary.
An old friend once shared with me, the key to life is about building successful relationships and being a good person. I hope that in my time at St Michael’s we grow great learners but more importantly, great people.
Thank you for your continued support.
Many blessings,
Judy Egan
Congratulations to the following students who achieved a Harmony Award in Week 1.
Well done!!

Confirmation
This term, some of our Year 6 students will be preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church; Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. When someone is confirmed, they are blessed with fullness of the Holy Spirit; it becomes a personal Pentecost. When confirmed, you receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit; Courage, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, Right Judgement, Reverence, and Wonder and Awe of God. These gifts help you to go out into the world and continue the mission of Jesus. Confirmation preparation is vital and happens at home, school, in the Parish and with the support of sponsor. Please keep all the Confirmation candidates in your prayers.
If your child is Catholic and you would like them to receive Confirmation, registrations have now been extended to the 28th of July via the QKR Parish app. For more information, including dates, please read the Parish Sacramental Program Information in the newsletter.
Winter Woolies Day
On the 22nd of August this term we will be having a Winter Woolies Day in support of the Vinnies Winter Appeal. The day will involve a liturgy and workshops run by the staff of Saint Vincent dePaul to help educate students on homelessness. One of the ways we are asking families to support the day is by donations. Over the coming weeks, we ask that you go through your cupboards to see if you can put aside winter clothing and/or blankets. These donations will be much appreciated by the team at Vinnies and be distributed to those experiencing homelessness in our local community.
If you would like more information about the Saint Vincent dePaul Society and how they support the community, please see website link below:
