Dear Parents and Carers,
Today we celebrate Jane McKeough’s 60th Birthday. Jane has been with us at St Michael’s for over 9 years sharing her amazing passion with the Arts. Jane has led students through amazing arts experiences teaching them to appreciate the work of so many incredible artists. We are so appreciative of her wonderful teaching; her amazing Arts displays and her kindness to all- Have a wonderful day Jane!
Parent Teacher Interviews
We are coming up to the end of Semester One Assessment and Reporting cycle. Semester One Reports will be published on COMPASS in Week 10, Thursday 29th June.
Parents and carers have an opportunity to make an appointment prior to the reports being published to discuss their child's learning in Week 9: Tuesday 20th, Wednesday 21st, Thursday 22nd. Teachers may also contact families to request an interview. We invite parents to login to the parent portal to book an interview time. Interviews are an opportunity to discuss student strengths and challenges and to build partnerships with school and home. The best way to support our children is to show them that we are united in wanting the best for them in all aspects of growing. This includes so much more that grades in a subject area, it is about supporting our children to build positive relationships while developing a growth mindset. Thank you to the parents who have already booked a time and I hope many families will take up this offer as the discussion is always so valuable.

Religious Education News - Erika Tokich
Catholic Calendar
As a Church family, we have a Catholic Liturgical Calendar of events and seasons. The Church year begins with Advent. Easter is the high point and the year ends with the feast of Christ the King. This week marked the end of the Easter season, and we move into Ordinary Time. The name Ordinary Time comes from the Latin word ordinalis which refers to the order and ongoing nature of the season. The liturgical colour assigned to Ordinary Time is green; a colour associated with growth, hope and new life. During this season, Gospel readings around the life and teachings of Christ are read during liturgies which assist our understanding of how to be followers of Jesus.
Whole School Focus – Exploring
We are continuing to break open our term focus of ‘Harmony in my School’. So far this term we have explored the theme of change and the values of courage and gratitude. Over the next 2 weeks we are looking at one of St Michael’s keys for learning; exploring. Exploring is at the heart of what we do each and every day at school. Students are encouraged to ask questions and to analyze what they’ve learnt. Harmony Awards will celebrate students who display curiosity and have a desire to explore their wonderings.
